Mutual of Omaha Bank is expanding into Fort Myers, Fla., with the appointment of a market president and plans to open a full service community bank, the company announced.
The bank has appointed John Fritts to lead the expansion as market president. Employing a community banking strategy, Fritts will assemble a team of experienced local bankers who will immediately begin offering residents and businesses of Lee County a full suite of banking services, including personal banking, business banking, mortgage lending and wealth management services.
Fritts and his team will be located at a new full service community bank, scheduled to open in the second quarter of 2011. Strategically positioned near the center of Fort Myers at 7331 College Parkway, the new location will serve as the bank’s Fort Myers headquarters and will feature a full service branch with lobby, drive-thru and ATM, as well as offices for business banking, mortgage lending and wealth management professionals.
A longtime resident of Lee County, Fritts brings more than 30 years of experience to Mutual of Omaha Bank, most recently serving as founding director and executive vice president of Florida Gulf Bank. He is former chairman of the board for the United Way of Lee County and Family Health Centers of Southwest Florida. Fritts also is a member and past president of the Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce.
Originally a resident of Springfield, Ohio, and Columbus, Ohio, Fritts earned his bachelor’s degree from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio.
